Alex Fioto enjoys a multifaceted career as a professional trumpet player in Raleigh, NC. He received a Bachelor of Music degree from the University of Michigan and a Master of Music degree from Rice University where he studied with William Campbell and Marie Speziale, respectively. Alex has performed with the Detroit Symphony Orchestra, North Carolina Symphony, Charleston Symphony Orchestra, Charlotte Symphony Orchestra, Ann Arbor Symphony Orchestra, Virginia Symphony Orchestra and has appeared as principal trumpet of the San Antonio Symphony. Outside of orchestral playing, Alex performs regularly as a chamber musician. In addition to the Boylan Brass, Alex collaborates with the Chamber Orchestra of the Triangle, the Mallarmé Chamber Players and the Carolina Brass to name a few. Previously, Alex served on faculty of St. Augustine’s University as adjunct Professor of Trumpet and was the brass instructor for KidZNotes, a Durham-based El Sistema-inspired organization. Alex is also the brass quintet coach for the Triangle Youth Philharmonic. Alex has attended numerous summer music festivals including the Brevard Music Center, Chautauqua Music Festival and the Tanglewood Music Center. While at Tanglewood, Alex performed under the baton of Maestro Kurt Masur, Christoph Eschenbach, and the late Rafael Fruhbeck de Burgos. In his spare time, Alex enjoys teaching young brass musicians, running, biking and hiking. He lives in Raleigh with his wife, Amy and his son, Ellis.
